Training Workshops

We have trained 100s of people in over a dozen countries to use AI efficiently. Our courses bring the world of AI into sharp focus. We will tell you how to use important tools and how to select new ones. It will equip you with the basic knowledge and skills you need to go forward in your journalism.

2025

  • In December we taught an AI and podcasting workshop for over 100 participants online.

  • In December we taught a newsroom in Afghanistan how to implement AI under incredibly stressful conditions.

  • In November we taught a full five day workshop in Namibia in person for the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC).

  • In November we taught Radio Television of Serbia a three day online workshop in AI implementation.

  • In October for DW Akademie we partnered with The Moldova School of Journalism for an innovative and exciting training on AI and journalism.

  • In September for Thomson Reuters Foundation we conducted a three day workshop for exiled media.

  • Public Media Alliance teamed up with Develop AI in July 2025 to create a series of AI workshops for the Pacific region.

  • We developed a series of webinars in June 2025 for International Media Support on AI implementation in the newsroom.

  • In February 2025 we worked with DW Akademie to develop and conduct a full six week AI training workshop for host of newsrooms across Africa.

2024

  • Our AI in Action workshop at Innovation Days in Serbia helped a packed house of people to use AI efficiently in developing their next podcasting project.

  • Develop AI went to Ethiopia to train dozens of trainers in responsible AI.

  • Our Leveraging AI & Podcasting workshop at Radiodays Asia in Malaysia was a huge success.

  • Develop AI conducted two AI workshops for The Nation Media Group and Royal Media Services in Kenya in July with Futuremedia Lab and the incredible Camilla Bath. Special thanks to The U.S. Agency for Global Media for hosting us.

  • Develop AI and Public Media Alliance ran a workshop on responsible AI for public media. Hosted in June by the SABC with colleagues from Ghana, Lesotho, Namibia and the Seychelles.

    This workshop unpacked how newsrooms can best utilise AI so it is in line with core public media values - especially accountability, impartiality, transparency, and reaching diverse audiences.

  • We partnered with The Moldova School of Journalism and DW Akademie in June 2024 for an innovative and exciting training on AI and journalism. Over six afternoon sessions spread out over three weeks we explored AI tools, ethics and how to build a practical AI policy for your newsroom.

  • Our founder Paul McNally taught classes at the The British University in Egypt in "Data Verification, Fact-Checking and AI" and "Data Visualisation and AI".

2023

  • Develop AI facilitated Innovation Lab 2023 in Namibia in October.
